Here are the basic screen shots and configuration options for NetSurfer. Click one of the quick links above to see the installation screen shots for an existing account or a new account.

This is the basic jump page with NetSurfer. There are icons (pictures) for checking your e-mail, going to a website, checking news groups and ftp programs. You can change the programs associated with those buttons by clicking "program" in the top of the window. You can change other things like your password by clicking the settings link. The top right corner will tell you if you're online. You can click "disconnect" to go offline or "connect" to go online. The bottom left corner will tell you if you have e-mail.

Settings Options

This tutorial will cover the settings and program options. Let's begin by clicking the settings link to see the following window.

You can reset your username, dial-in number and modem here. Be sure to add three commas to the end of the number for more stable connections. Add a "9," to the front of the number if you need to dial a "9" to get an outside line. You will also need to have @whateverisp.com on the end of the username login to be sure that you reach your ISP instead of getting lost in the public phone system.

Click the password button to get to the following options.

You can click "change password" to change your internet password. Also, NetSurfer assumes that you want it to plug-in your password automatically when you connect. If you don't want someone to use the internet connection then click the "unsave password" button so that they will need to know the password to connect to your internet account from your computer. Note: People on other computers won't know your password. This only affects whether your own computer automatically puts in your password when you go online.

Programs Options

Click on the "programs" link to get to the next window.

The mailbox will automatically be set for Outlook Express if you installed NetSurfer with Internet Explorer selected. If you chose Netscape then it will automatically use Netscape Messenger. Similarly, the blue "e" means that you chose Internet Explorer. Netscape has a different icon in the top section. There is also a program called WS_FTP LE that is pictured where it says "FTP." You can change the programs associated with these buttons by clicking the programs link.

To change the e-mail program, click the button in the middle that looks like a mailbox. After that, click the browse button and a new window will pop-up. Find the other program that you would prefer to use (that is already loaded on your computer) such as Outlook 2000. This will let you switch the button to the other program. You can do the same thing with the browser, newsgroup and ftp buttons.

For more details on configuration options, click the little blue "?" in the bottom right-hand of the NetSurfer window. You will see the following window with options on additional tutorial info.

That's the basics.
