Can't Make Changes To A Program Such As OT/TCP?

A lot of programs such as MacTCP, OT/TCP, etc., can be "locked down" so that you can't make changes. If you can't make changes to a program then click the Edit menu and choose "user mode." <next>

Select administration mode but do NOT set a password if you can avoid that. Click OK. <next>

You can now see the TCP/IP window in administrative mode. Make sure that all of the padlock icons are unlocked like they are in the picture below. Set the "connect via" box for PPP or FreePPP. Set the configure box for the "using PPP server" option. Set the DNS numbers but leave the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Router Address blank. Don't worry about the search domains.

You are now ready to configure PPP or FreePPP depending upon which selection you chose in the "connect via" window.

<PPP Screen Shots> <FreePPP Screen Shots> <return to Mac main page> <return to top>
