Anarchie 3.7 is a simple and effective FTP (file transfer protocol) utility for the Macintosh. It's installation program will probably put an icon on the desktop for opening the program. It looks like the icon pictured above. If it isn't on the desktop then look in the hard drive as shown below. Notice that the application will not be in a sub-folder such as the Internet Applications folder. If needed, you can highlight the program in the hard drive then click the file menu to choose "make alias." This creates a shortcut that you can drag & drop to the desktop. <next>
The Anarchie window is shown below. You have two choices for opening an ftp connection. You can double-click on the "ftp accounts" option shown below. <next>
You can also open the file menu and choose "get via ftp" to connect to an ftp directory. <next>
Either method opens the following window. The server box needs the ftp host address. It always follows this format: ftp.ispname.com. You also need to put in your username and password. The tricky part is the path box. Most ISPs follow one of these two formats: (1) /ispnameusers/username or (2) /users-ispname/username. Other ISPs use this format: /mypage/username. After you've input this info, click the "list" button to logon to that ftp directory.
After you've input this info, click the "list" button to logon to that ftp directory. <next> An example of an Anarchie ftp connection is shown below. The window on the left is the ftp directory. The window on the right is the Mac hard drive. You can literally drag & drop files in either direction. <next>
That's all there is to transferring files across the internet with the Anarchie 3.7 ftp utility for Macintosh. <return to top> <return to ftp page> <return to mac home page> Last Update: Thursday, May 03, 2001 |
